The only way to reach this valley was by horse or by hiking. The two, with the experience gained and living in the potential tourism area of Cortina, decide to come back to their hometown San Cassiano. Here they merry and with the saved money they start their own business. After surviving the 2nd world war, together with their 5 children, with big sacrifice and passion for their work, they make a big contribution to the Val Badia as Tourism Destination.

Why Conturines Posta?

At the time, in the whole alpine area, each village used a guesthouse or a hotel for mail screening. Also the hotel Conturines, which was ideally located in strategic position, was in charge of this job.

Why the bear in our logo?

The bear, or that is to says the Ursus ladinicus, which is the revised imprint of the Ursus Spelaeus, and is therefore the symbol of the Conturines Mountain. In 1987 there has been found, in a natural grotto amidst the Dolomites massive, an archeological record of bones of this prehistoric animal which occupied the immense meadows of the Fanes valley.
On July 30, 2011 there has been opened the new museum in San Cassiano dedicated to the bear and the geology.
What is the “Enrosadira”: this is the red reflection you can see by sun down on the Dolomite Mountain peaks.
