The kings Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, nowadays also called the singers, go from house to house and bring people the message of Jesus birth and wishes for peace and blessings for the new year. The 'C+M+B' is interpreted as the first letters of the names Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, but it is traditionally taken from the latin words: Christus Mansionem Benedicat ("Christ bless this house").
On this occasion, the three kings also collect some money for certain projects for people in need.
